Welcome to the UA Rocket Girls
We are the University of Alabama Rocket Girls, the University of Alabama's all women rocket group, preparing to compete in NASA's University Student Launch Initiative (USLI). USLI consists of a series of reports, designs, test flights, and outreach events that culminates in a rocket launch in Huntsville, AL on April 21, 2012.
Blast off with us through this exciting experience! Different elements of USLI include:
- Designing and building a scientific payload which will take measurements during the flight
- Completing and submitting a Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, and Flight Readiness Review, which will be assessed by a panel of scientists and engineers from or affiliated with NASA
- Ensuring complete recovery of the rocket and payload after flight
- Participating in outreach events to encourage grade-school students to pursue science and higher education
